Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will Charge for Appealed Denied Claims

Effective March 1, 2025, BCBSM will begin enforcing a long-standing policy against hospitals that repeatedly appeal claims.  This policy applies to external review appeals.  Hospitals will have to pay for external review appeals if the decision is not overturned in their favor.  Currently, this only applies to hospital and not physician based claims.
